यहोशू के अध्याय 20

फिर यहोवा ने यह सोच से कहा इसराइलियों से यह कहा कि मैं मूसा के द्वारा तुमसे शरण नगरी की जो चर्चा की थी उसके अनुसार उनके धारा को जिस जो कोई भूल से बीना जाने किसी को मार डाले वह उसने में से किसी में भाग जाए इसलिए वह नगर खून के पलटा लेने वाले से बचने के लिए तुम्हारी शरण स्थान धारे वह उन नगरों में से किसी की हो भाग जाए और उसे नगर के फाटक में से खड़ा होकर उसके प्राणियों को अपने मुकदमा का सुनाएं और वह उनको अपने बगैर में अपने पास टीका ले और उसे कोई स्थान में जिसमें वह उनके साथ रहे और यदि खून का पलटा लेने वाला उसका पीछा कर तो हुए यह जानकर कि उसने अपने पड़ोसियों को फिदा जाने और पहले उससे बिना बेर रखे मारा सा खून को उसी हाथ में ना दे और जब तक वह मंदिरों के सामने न्याय के लिए बड़ा खड़ा ना हो और जब तक उन दिनों का महा रियासत ना मर जाए तब वह वह इस नगर में रहे उसके बाद वह खूनी अपने नगर को लौट कर जिससे वहां भाग गया हो अपने घर में फिर रहने पाए और उन्होंने नापताली के पहाड़ी देश में लोन के के देश को और एवरीवन के पहाड़ी देश में एक सेकंड को और यहूदियों के पहाड़ी देश में कीरत को जो हेब्रोन में कहलाता है पवित्र ठहराया और गहरियों के पास से यार धर्म के पूर्व की ओर उन्होंने रूपेण के गोत्र की भाग में बसेरा को जंगल में 84 भूमि पर बसा हुआ है और गार्ड की गोत्र के भाग में गहलोत के रोमट को और वशीकरण की गोत्र की भाग में वासदन की गोलों को उतारा सारे इसराइलियों के लिए और उनमें से बच्चे रहने वाले परदेसियों के लिए भी जो नगर इस मानसा से 18 गया कि जो कोई किसी प्राणी को भूल से मार डाले वह उनमें से किसी को भाग जाए और जब तक न्याय की लिए मंडली के सामने खड़ा ना हो तब तक खून का पलटा देख लेने वाला उसे मार डालने ना पाए हुए यही है

And the LORD spake unto the children of Israel, saying, According to the cities of refuge which I spake unto you by Moses, that whosoever shall kill a man by mistake, let him flee unto one of these cities: and that city shall be a refuge unto you from the avenger of blood: and let him flee unto one of these cities: and let him stand at the gate of the city, and declare his case unto his men: and let him take them unto himself, and let him be in a place where he may dwell with them: and if the avenger of blood shall pursue him, knowing that he hath killed his neighbours: and let him not first give up the blood of the man that hath killed him: and let him dwell in that city until he standeth up before the temple for judgment: and until the great prince of those days is dead: afterward let the murderer return unto his city, and let him dwell in his house: and they shall take the city of Ion in the hill country of Naphtali, and a second in the hill country of Aiwon, and Kirath in the hill country of Judah: Hebron was called the sanctuary, and he sent down the city of Bessara, which is in the wilderness, eastward from the Gaharites, to the tribe of Rupen, and the Romash of Gahar, and the Goliaths of Vaashdan, to the tribe of the Bessaraites, for all the Israelites, and for the children of the foreigners who dwelt there.
