When you come into the land which the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, you shall possess it and dwell there. Then you shall fast and take some of it in a basket and go to the place which the Lord your God will choose for His name to dwell there. Go to the temple of the Lord your God and say, "Today I make a solemn request to the Lord your God that we have come from the land which the Lord swore to give us before us." Then you shall give this land in your hand or in a basket, according to the statute of the Lord your God. You shall say to the Lord your God, "My father was a man who was about to die. He went to Egypt with his small family and lived there as a foreigner. He became a great and powerful nation, numerous and well-off. The Jews treated us well and treated us hard and made us serve hard. But we prayed to the Lord our forefathers. The Lord heard us and looked upon our hardship and darkness.
