If a prophet or a dreamer appears among you and shows you a sign or a wonder, and you bow down to that sign or wonder, saying, "Come, let us worship the gods whom you have not known until now." Then you must never lose sight of the words of that prophet or dreamer, for the Lord your God will test you to know that he loves me with all his heart and with all his soul. You must follow the Lord your God, accept him as your brother, keep his commandments, obey his word, serve him, and cling to him. If such a prophet or a dreamer appears among you, who leads you away from the land of your enemies and frees you from the house of power, he will be found to be a devourer after you have strayed from the path, and therefore he will be put to death. In this way, you must put away such evil from among you, if your brother, your son, your daughter, your beloved friend, or those who bring you something by saying, "Come, let us worship other gods."
